Owner – Julie Gallagan, B.A. Dance, Otterbein University
Julie (Stephens) Gallagan began her dance training at the age of 3 in her hometown of Weirton, WV. For 15 years she trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and acrobatics. From ages 11-18 she traveled to many master classes, dance conventions and competitions throughout the Midwest and in NYC. Julie also taught as a student teacher for 5 years. Between her junior and senior years of high school she had the privilege of performing with the USA Kids aboard the US Costa Riviera and in the Bahamas. Miss Julie attended Otterbein University from 1992-1996 where she received her BA in dance. During her college years she appeared in many choreography showcases and dance concerts. During her senior year, her senior piece was selected by the Otterbein dance department staff to appear in the winter dance concert. Julie has been teaching all ages and art forms around the central Ohio area for over 20 years. Her choreography has won awards both regionally and nationally. Miss Julie resides in New Albany with her husband Josh and daughter Ella. She is beyond excited to continue to share her love and passion for dance with her students at Développé Dance Company this season!!
Instructor – Amber Carey, B.S. in Dance Education, Bowling Green State University
Amber (Browning) Carey started her dance journey at age 7 in Reynoldsburg, OH. The lessons were a gift from her Mamaw, which she is forever grateful for. Amber received 12 years of training in ballet, tap, jazz and several years of gymnastics and Cheerleading . She was also an assistant teacher all through High School. Miss Amber graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2004 with a degree in Dance Education, emphasis in Modern Dance. During her 4 years at BG she was a part of the University Performing Dancers and University Dance Alliance which gave her many experiences in auditioning, master classes, performing, choreography and teaching classes. Another highlight of her college career was performing at the National American College Dance Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and co-producing a show for her senior project. For 13 years she has taught all ages and levels in various styles and also has 11 years of experience with the competition line. She has trained many assistant teachers as well. Her choreography has won awards at regional and national competitions and has also had a few works chosen to compete at the Youth America Grand Prix, which was a wonderful honor. Miss Amber continues to train as much as she can by attending conventions and workshops with her dancers. Amber and her Husband, David, live in Pataskala with their 3 children, Emily (9) Ashley (8) and DJ (1). Overall Amber loves teaching the art and history of dance and enjoys watching her dancers grow into not just amazing dancers but wonderful people. She is thrilled to be a part of the first season at Développé Dance Company.
Instructor – Olivia Dawley
Olivia Dawley started dance when she was five years old taking ballet, tap and jazz. When she was seven, she joined the competition line and began competing in several different types of dance. Olivia has taken classes from many different well-known dancers, including Twitch and Kent Boyd from “So You Think You Can Dance,” as well as former Rockette dancers. She spent several years studying ballet under three different ballet schools, and earned an apprenticeship in a small ballet company. She was also in many different performances including Columbus Youth Ballet’s “Cats” and “The Nutcracker,” as well as performing in a local school musical for “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Miss Olivia loves to work with kids and is always looking forward to teaching and sharing a love for dance with others.
Instructor – Brynn Anglin
Brynn began her dance training at the age of 3 with the Fort Wayne Ballet. As a student, she was trained in several styles including: ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary, modern, character, hip-hop, tap, and musical theatre. Brynn continued to graduate through the Academy of Fort Wayne Ballet and was a member of the company for two years. She has also danced with Ballet Austin and Columbus Dance Theatre. While at Fort Wayne Ballet, she became an assistant teacher for the academy, and found a passion for teaching. Most recently, she has taught ballet and lyrical in Columbus. In addition to dance, Brynn is a personal fitness trainer, where she has worked with dancers to gain flexibility, strength, and injury prevention.
